Reflection Prompt 6:
How did understanding the standards and the pre-comp verification help you design your FE plan? How can your use your ePortfolio to help others understand how to integrate technology more effectively in the classroom?

Description:
I designed a beginning plan for my ePortfolio and field experience artifacts, using the Alignment Document with the NETS-TF standards. In addition I reviewed my pre-competency verification to revisit my technology strengths and weaknesses.

Impact:
Wow - I wanted to stop here, but I guess I should elaborate. I found I ended up with two very conflicting thoughts when I finished this assignment. My first though (the happy thought) was how much of the standards I do meet. Which personally I think is an accomplishment being a first year teacher and not having years of lessons and work experience to fall back on. My second, and scary thought, is how much farther I have to go. This especially became evident as I got down to the last two sections.

Knowing the standards and already having done the pre-comp helped greatly in preparing this document. The pre-comp served as a guideline for completing the assignment.

As far as how my ePortfolio can help others - I don't know if it is the portfolio itself that will help others; rather the completion and implementation of my artifact will help others integrate technology. In other words it isn't the portfolio rather the success of it's contents in practice that will help others.

Intent:

At this time my main focus is to find more field experience ideas to fill in the major gaps I have left. I am looking forward to the presentations of classmates to see what they are doing to meet these requirements. I have created a file on my desktop to store any artifacts as they are created and to remind me to always keep on the "look-out" for experiences that will apply to the standards. The depth and vastness of this project has instilled in me the strong understanding that this is something I want to keep as a working item. I intend to keep building on it through the course of my studies and not let sit back and languish to be rushed in the final months.
